I don't have anyone to carry the items from my house, can you do that too?

Yes, the standard service includes a truck, driver and crew to do all the heavy lifting.

How long will my furniture take to get there?

Local moves usually happen on one day. If you’re moving nationally or moving overseas, transit times depend on your destination, freight method, volume and availability.

Anything that is definitely a no-go area?

Well, mainly those things you might expect – gas bottles, dangerous flammable goods, drugs, alcohol, weapons, ammunition. Shipping certain high value items or collections may require you to purchase extra coverage.

How do I determine which moving companies to contact?

How early should I book?

Depending on circumstances at least 2 weeks notice should be given to ensure your position on the truck and ensure the dates that are required can be met.

How far in advance should I contact a moving company?

The sooner the better. The more lead time you give, the better the chance that the movers will be able to meet your preferred schedule. So we suggest you start the process at least four to six weeks prior to your anticipated move.

Is it necessary to book a moving company or can I hire a van and do the rest myself?

If you do not want to take the responsibility of packing all the stuff carefully, stacking it in the moving vehicle and shifting it then it is best to book a moving company. A moving company makes the entire process easy and hassle free. The experienced and reliable moving companies relieve you from the stress and burden of moving and take complete care of your personal belongings. The entire shifting process is completed in a lesser time as compared to moving it through van hire. 

So what can or can’t I take with me?

Generally speaking, dispose of all flammable items, liquids, foods and other items that should not be shipped. Anything that can deteriorate should not be shipped. If you have a question about something, just call and ask.

What are my responsibilities?

Be present during the packing of your belongings. Take personal responsibility for jewelry and other high value items. Ensure that no prohibited items are packed.Check and sign the inventory of your belongings.

What do I need to do in preparation for the move day?

Prior to moving day you will need to pack all smaller items into sturdy boxes and label these with a description of the contents and destination room. Refrigerators, freezers and washing machines need to be emptied and the interior dried. All beds and cots will need to be dismantled. You will need to disconnect all electronic equipment including computers and peripherals, TVs, DVDs and sound systems.

What should I do with my jewellery and other valuable items?

Items of extraordinary value such as jewellery, money, antiques and stamp collections can be included in your personal hand carry, provided that you notify your local moving representative of these items before the packing and moving day. It is strongly recommended that you carry irreplaceable and expensive articles with you.

What's the best time of the year to move?

Naturally you should move when it’s most convenient for you. Job demands, children’s school terms are just two of the issues that will impact your move schedule. But if you can make the move during a time frame when our moving vans and technicians are more readily available-in other words.

When is the best time to move

Take all factors into consideration when deciding on the best time for you to move. Keep in mind, however, that the summer months (mid-May to mid-September) and the beginning and end of each month (regardless of the season) are particularly busy for moving companies and may require more flexibility and advanced scheduling.

Will my furnishings remain clean?

All items are wrapped in felt and padded blankets to reduce the risk of damage.

Are your crews background checked?

All of our crews are 100% background checked to ensure the safety and security of our customers and their possessions. We only use permanent staff and not staff from the streets.

How long does it take to move my goods?

This is dependent on the area of uplift and delivery, dates required and your needs. 

What happens when a relocation consultant comes to my home?

The relocation consultant will arrive at your home to perform a visual survey of your items. The consultant must be able to clearly see what is being moved in order to provide you with an accurate estimate. Once the visual survey is completed, the consultant will calculate the weight, packing cost and any other charges related to your move.

What is a “Not to exceed / Binding

A “not to exceed” or binding estimate is an agreement that specifies the defined cost of the move based on the services requested at the time of the estimate. If additional services are required or requested at either the origin or the destination at the time of your move, you will need an addendum / change of order for service. The total cost will be adjusted.

What is a back-load?

A back-load is using the space available on a vehicle generally on a return trip, which would otherwise be empty. 

What is a Binding Estimate/Quote?

A Binding Estimate/Quote is an agreement (contract) made in advance that guarantees the total cost of the move based upon the quantities and services shown on the quote. A lot of moving companies also use the term Flat Price.

What is a Broker?

A Broker is a company that arranges for the transportation of your shipment and subcontracts the order to others; also known as a Booking Agent. 

What is a non-binding estimate?

A non-binding estimate will show charges according to the hourly rate or actual weight and mileage of your household goods move. It will also include the actual cost of the services that are to be provided.

What is an inventory?

An inventory provides a detailed, descriptive listing of your household goods and the condition of each item when received and delivered by the mover.

What is an Order for Service?

The order for service provides you with written confirmation of the services and charges that you requested to be performed in agreement with your move.

When should I contact moving companies for estimates?

Try to provide moving companies with as much notice as possible especially if you are moving during the summer months or at the beginning or end of a month (regardless of the season).

Will my move still progress during very hot or wet weather?

 Due to the nature of our business we need to continue working regardless of the weather however our teams safety is very important to us so if it is too dangerous to carry on, we will re-assess the situation for all parties concerned.

Will my shipment be shared on the same truck with somebody else's belongings?

Because the furnishings of the average household will not fill a van, it is often necessary for two or more shipments to be loaded on the same van. Each shipment is carefully sectioned off from the others.

Will there be any paperwork?

All professional removal companies should provide you with a written quotation for your upcoming move and confirmation of your upcoming furniture removals and booking confirmation.


Is it okay if I leave clothes and other items inside furniture during the move?

Not really. We expect all items to be removed from furniture and packed in the appropriate containers. The contents of desks, dressers, side tables, armories  credenzas should be taken out also, as this minimizes wear and tear on your furniture and also protects your belongings during the move.

Can I pack anything in the drawers of my dresser or desk?

All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage. It is recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.

Is it okay if I pack my own boxes?

You can pack your own boxes but that will mean you aren’t covered for breakages. Check with your furniture removalist and insurance before you begin.

Is it okay if I pack my china, glass and crystal?

Yes, but we find that most of our clients prefer to have their belongings, especially fragile items like glassware and china, packed by our experienced professionals. If you do decide to pack these items on your own, be very careful to wrap each item separately, with lots of cushioning and then place them in a sturdy lidded container with a firm pack.

Will the moving company take care of my packing?

It is the job of a moving company to take care of your belongings and pack them properly to stack them on their delivery vans & trucks and unpack them to the new location. Packing companies bring various boxes, tapes and other material handy to pack your stuff carefully. A packing service is a safer and easier way to shift from one place to another. These companies save your precious time and relieve you from stress and burden.

Will the relocators pack all the boxes?

Packed by owner boxes or package is not acceptable now either with the insurance company in an event of any claim nor with customs/law enforcement agencies in many countries due to the increased security. It is recommended that you ask the movers only to pack the items.


Am I protected against loss or damage while my good are in transit?

Yes, provided you buy an insurance policy through the mover or is already insured. Also, how much protection and the cost of the protection is dependent upon the valuation coverage you select. This can be one of the most confusing aspects of moving but it is important that you fully understand what is being provided to you.
